Walking into the residential care facility, I was hit with a flood of emotions. It reminded me of the Park Forest Care Center where my father spent the last years of his life. Even though I hadn’t been to the Park Forest since Dad died in 2017, but now I felt like I’d never left.

When the Watergate scandal hit in 1972 I was in high school. The Washington Post reporters who broke the story, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, became heroes. Even in my little high school in a Chicago suburb.
Like others who aspired to follow in their footsteps I worked on my high school newspaper. I got bylines, my name in print. I was hooked.
