Read my interview Finding the Mini in Memoir in Brevity Blog.
Writer and teacher Jennifer Lang’s memoir, Places We Left Behind: a memoir-in-miniature (Vine Leaves Press 2023) takes the reader on her journey with her French-born husband, Philippe. Using experimental prose and forms, Lang reveals her struggle with their different religious needs while making peace with Israel as their final home. Poet and memoirist, Lisa Rizzo met with Jennifer to discuss her artistic decisions.

My flash nonfiction piece “Dad’s Weights” was published in The Keepthings site. If you haven’t followed this wonderful site on Instagram or Substack, I urge you to do it. The essays about things we keep from the people we’ve lost are wonderful.

Everyday Haiku, an Anthology
In 2014, I joined a private Facebook group called The Haiku Room. The thirty-three members all resolved to write a haiku every day for one year. I didn't make quite 365 haikus that year, but almost. And I've kept up the practice off and on ever since. Several of my haikus appeared in a lovely anthology published by Wandering Muse Press.
